We all know that BlogSpot is one of the old Blogging Platform offered for free from Google. BlogSpot is one of the best and free blogging platform. BlogSpot is my favorite blogging platform for a couple of years. It offers free hosting & subdomains and even gives an option to add your own purchased domain name. Then why I am saying to never choose Blogspot for your business blog?
It provides basic services which help you to show your creativity to the world through your blog. You’re poet, story-writer, photographer and have no money to spend on your blog, then BlogSpot is best for you. But, If you’re starting a business blog, then never choose Blogspot.
In this article, I am gonna share with you, “Why you should never choose Blogspot for your business blog“. You should never choose Blogspot for a business blog like akjewelers.blogspot.com. So, that being said let’s get started.
Why You Should Never Choose BlogSpot For Your Business Blog
Here are some of the reasons listed for “Why You Should Never Choose BlogSpot For Your Business Blog”. Read this whole article to know about them.
1. Google Ranking
Suppose you have a website for your business(company), and now you need a blog for your business. If you choose BlogSpot for your blog then you’ll get a sub domain from Blogspot like yourcompany.blogspot.com. If you’re smart enough and thought to use a sub domain like blog.yourcompany.com. Remember you’re not smart more than Google.
You’ll never outrank the real domain that is yourcompany.blogspot.com. Because will rank its own product first, instead of your sub domain blog.yourcompany.com. This will also affect the rankings of your main domain i.e., yourcompany.com
If you, later on, move your blog to some other blogging platform, probably you’re gonna lose your SEO. So, take care of it.
2. Blog Domain Lock-In
Every technical person tells you the best way to move a blog from old to a new domain is through redirection. They tell you to just use a “301 Permanent redirection” to move a blog to new domain. Through this method, you will never lose your search engine ranking. But this method doesn’t work if you’re using a Blogspot sub domain. Google doesn’t let you move all that SEO value to that new domain. If you’re using Blogspot sub domain.
This is a wrong thing with Google Search. That’s why I would recommend you to never choose BlogSpot for your business blog.
3. Transferring Data is Really Tough
In the starting days of my blogging career, I have no money to spend on purchasing domain and hosting. So, I have chosen BlogSpot for starting my first blog. It was about motivational stories and quotes. I have written over 50 posts on that blog, then I bought a domain and Hosting and installed WordPress on it.
When the time comes for moving my blog to self-hosted WordPress then I realized that I will only move articles, and will lose all my comments and followers. At that time I was very sad, and I have no option. That’s why I would recommend you to never choose BlogSpot for your business blog, otherwise, you’ll regret later.
4. Limited Features/Functionality
Though, BlogSpot is free to start your own blog. You don’t need to spend a single penny and not to worry about Security, Hosting & Domains(in most cases). BlogSpot must be your first choice until you’re a professional blogger or starting a business blog.
If you’re starting a business blog, you’ll need a lot of tools and functions which will help your blog to grow and get more clients. But, sadly Blogspot gives very limited features which are not good for a business blog. That’s why I would recommend you to never choose BlogSpot for your business blog.
However, If you’re starting a non-professional then you must go for BlogSpot at first.
According to me, BlogSpot is best blogging platform for hobby bloggers or bloggers who only write and not providing any services. If you’re starting a business blog, then I would recommend you to go for self-hosted WordPress. WordPress provides a lot of functions that bring your blog a lot of power to convert a visitor to your client.
It also helps in increasing your site’s SEO. You can make your blog more powerful by using the plugins provided in WordPress directory and other third-party sources.
